Step-by-Step Guide to Making Origami Butterflies
Bend the Square Paper: Start by taking a square piece of paper and folding it diagonally into a triangle. Unfold it and then fold it along the other diagonal to form another triangle. Unfold the paper to its original square shape, leaving a cross of folded lines. This is your starting point. Overturn the Paper: Take the first fold on one side and pull it inward, using the visible lines to guide you. Crease well and unfold. Repeat this on the opposite side. Now your paper should have a good crease that defines the wing of the butterfly. Bend the Square Sides to Inside: Fold the top and bottom edges to the center crease, aligning the edges with the previous folds. Crease well and unfold. This will create the body and wings of the butterfly. Bend the Down Corners to the Top: Fold each corner to the top, again using the previous creases as a guide. Crease well and unfold. These folds will form the wings of your butterfly. Flip to Other Side: Repeat the same steps as above on the other side of the paper, but don’t unfold the wings yet. Bend the Bottom Corner Upwards: Fold the bottom corner of the lower left section up to the top edge. Crease well and unfold. Similarly, fold the bottom corner of the lower right section up to the top edge and crease. Flip It Again: Fold the paper in half horizontally. Crease well. Final Crease: Take the left and right corners and fold them to the center line. This will complete the butterfly. With these steps, you should be able to make a lovely origami butterfly using just a simple sheet of paper.
