Why Evangelicals Are Engaged in Politics

Anyone has the right to be involved in politics, including clergy. However, it’s concerning when preachers endorse candidates based more on promises of favoritism than adherence to their denominational teachings.

Amplifying Faith-Based Voices

While many have not had a significant voice in politics and some still don’t, the argument is being made that there should be more faith-based engagement. The balance between faith and politics is crucial, and currently, people of faith, particularly Christians, are not organized in the same way that the left is. This lack of organization means their voices are often not heard in government and in the halls of power.

Right to Political Voice

Evangelicals, just like others, have the right to be politically involved. They have the right to have their opinions heard, to have laws made to protect their views, and to choose politicians who will advocate for and enforce laws consistent with their beliefs. It is a fundamental right that should not be overlooked or undervalued.

Misconceptions and Misunderstandings

There is a misunderstanding and a confusion regarding the separation of church and state. The idea that the state should not establish a religion does not mean that individuals cannot use their religious beliefs to shape laws based on their ethical values. Forcing a person to be invisible because they pray to Christ is inappropriate, just as it would be to say that “Jews will not replace us.”

Left-leaning liberals often protect religious groups like Judaism and Islam but are keen to destroy the Christian community based on their beliefs. This double standard is a critical concern. The ability of evangelicals to enter politics and have their voices heard is crucial. Even though a person may align with a liberal party, the fundamental right to freedom of speech must be upheld.

Free Speech and Political Involvement

The passion of evangelicals towards politics is about free speech and the equal treatment of opinions. While some left-leaning liberals may promote shutting down religious views, they also support free speech for other groups, such as Satanists. This inconsistency is baffling and highlights the importance of a balanced approach to political engagement.

It’s important to acknowledge that a person’s faith and their political views can coexist and even inform each other. For instance, if an evangelical Christian president or politician is elected, they should retain the right to be guided by their religious views without facing undue pressure or scrutiny. The passions and principles of evangelicals in politics should be respected, and the focus should be on maintaining a balanced and inclusive political environment.

By engaging more actively in politics, evangelicals can ensure their voices are heard and that their followers understand the importance of advocating for their values with a voice that matters. This political engagement is not about favoritism; it’s about ensuring that democracy works for everyone.

Let’s work towards creating a system where all individuals, regardless of their religious beliefs, have a voice in shaping the policies and laws that affect their lives. Supporting and understanding each other, even when we disagree, is key to a healthy and functioning democracy.
