The Reality Behind Trump’s Claim of Martial Law and National Guard Deployment
Did you ever take Civics 101 in high school? The idea that 25,000 soldiers in Washington could be part of a plan to declare martial law and take full control seems almost surreal in our advanced democracy. There is no plan, and there are no preparations that could even be imagined by the 'basement democrat haters,' as some inaccurately describe them.
These dedicated soldiers are all law abiding and are doing the right thing. The same applies to the president, who is fulfilling a legal duty to protect our country. It is important to remember that the National Guard is there to protect the current government, not to facilitate any wrongdoing or illegal activity.
Why the Idea of Martial Law Is Unlikely
Questions about President Trump's intentions have been ridiculed. Suggestions that alien overlords would aid in a Trump coup are just as absurd. In reality, there is no credible evidence or rational reason for any soldier to aid a cut-rate dictator wannabe. Soldiers who enjoy staying employed would not support such an individual, given that following orders under false pretenses could lead to severe consequences, including losing their jobs.
The Role of the National Guard and the Constitution
The National Guard, which comprises 25,000 soldiers in Washington, has one primary duty: to protect a current president who legally lost an election to help a perceived enemy of the state, namely Joe Biden. However, if the National Guard were to follow their duty under the Constitution, they would arrest Biden for treason.
No, such an order would be unlawful and the troops would not obey it. President Trump does not have a good relationship with the Army General Staff. No general officer would support him, as they are handpicked by the Obama Administration. Moreover, they are sworn to follow the Constitution.
The United States has a constitutional government. This means that the military owes no allegiance to a president. If one reviews President Trump's governing actions, it becomes apparent that he strictly follows the Constitution. Despite having made complaints about the election, he has remained within the bounds of the law. Six states did not follow their own constitution, let alone the United States Constitution. One can find fault with his manner but not with his observance of the Constitution. Therefore, the notion that Trump plans to declare martial law is misplaced and does not take into account his adherence to the Constitution or the safeguards against such actions.
Understanding the Military’s Role in Lawful Orders
The American armed forces take threats against the country and the Constitution very seriously. Any action that does not align with the law or the Constitution would be swiftly dealt with. In other words, declaring martial law to retain power would not be a lawful order. Rather, Vice President Pence declaring martial law to deal with another incompetence coup attempt would be a lawful order and would be obeyed.
Ultimately, the men and women serving in the National Guard are professionals who take their oaths and responsibilities seriously. The military’s adherence to the Constitution ensures that any actions taken are in accordance with the law, not political whims. This is a crucial aspect of our democratic system, where law and constitutional order take precedence over any individual's ambition.
By understanding the role of the National Guard and the principles of constitutional governance, one can see that the fears surrounding martial law are unfounded and based more on misinformation and misunderstanding than factual evidence.
