Trends and the Popularity of Mosaic Tiles
As of my last update in August 2023, mosaic tiles were experiencing a resurgence in popularity, particularly in interior design and home renovation. They are often used for backsplashes, bathroom walls, and decorative accents. Trends can vary by region and personal preference, so while some may see them as a classic choice, others might lean towards more minimalist or contemporary styles. If you're considering using mosaic tiles, think about the overall aesthetic you want to achieve and how they can complement your design vision.
Timeless vs. In-Style Design
There is a huge difference between ldquo;in stylerdquo;, ldquo;classicrdquo;, ldquo;timelessrdquo;, and ldquo;chicrdquo;. When something is ldquo;in style, rdquo; that means it will go OUT of style, so the age of a renovation is evident, just right to its era. On the other hand, some things remain timeless or enter a phase where they become valuable classics. Mosaic tiles are timeless. The only part that will be in or out of style would be colors. However, neutrals will remain mostly timeless. These include shades of light browns and whites. Some say grays too, but I grew up when gray was a very undesirable and depressing color, thus rarely seen. So I don't personally see gray as a neutral-to me, it's a pretty dated look. That said, do what YOU like while keeping in mind what looks tasteful, not gawdy or tacky. Ugly is ugly, in style or not!
An example of in style but ugly I would have to say the light fixtures I am currently seeing in stores. No way - not in my house! I shop online to get things that I think would be tasteful, charming, elegant, or simple, regardless of what the 2023 ldquo;stylerdquo; is. The basic rule of thumb is that if something is not ldquo;in style, rdquo; it will never be ldquo;out of stylerdquo;.
