Beyond Perception: The Mysteries of Optical Illusions and the Unseen LIGHT
Optical illusions have always intrigued us, drawing us into a realm where what we see may not be entirely what it appears. But they also raise profound questions about the nature of perception and the unseen LIGHT that guides our experiences.
What is an Optical Illusion?
All that we see could be termed an optical illusion. When we look at a visual stimulus, such as light rays or particles, they interact with the rods and cones in our retina. These interactions generate electrochemical signals that travel through the visual nerve to various visual centers in the brain. These centers then process the signals through memory and cognitive interpretation, resulting in the images we perceive. However, what we see may be quite different from the physical reality of the stimulus.
Optical illusions highlight the intricate processes our brain goes through to interpret sensory information. Despite the layers of biological mechanisms involved, it is not uncommon for us to question the reliability of these visual perceptions.
Perception: A Mystery in Plain Sight
Our perceptions, which include seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling, thinking, and intuiting, occur without our conscious awareness of the mechanisms involved. We are aware that our perceptions happen, but the exact process remains a mystery. We do not feel our eyeballs adjusting to light and distance, nor do we feel our retina, optic nerve, or brain interpreting the signals. What does it mean to say that the brain interprets the optic signal? Is this interpretation meaningful, or just a byproduct of neurological processes?
Key Questions: Who or what is it that actually sees? Is it the eyes, the brain, or something beyond?
The Unseen LIGHT
Despite the mystery surrounding perception, there is a hidden LIGHT that illuminates our experiences. This LIGHT is self-luminous, self-evident, nameless, formless, dimensionless, intimate, impersonal, universal, and non-local and non-temporal. It has no borders or location and is a non-material reality that is indestructible and eternal. This LIGHT forms the backdrop and foreground of all perceptions, making it undeniable yet invisible.
Perceptions occur within this universal LIGHT through complex organic body mechanisms. The ultimate "you" or "me" that perceives is not separate from this LIGHT. Every perception includes the subject and the object, encompassing the entire universe, from trillions of galaxies to microscopic details.
The Illusion of Reality
Optical illusions are a testament to the fundamental unreliability of our perceptions. We see a blue sky during the day when none exists in an absolute sense, images of water that we can never reach, and snakes in ropes. These illusions show us that our perceptions are not always reliable evidence of objective reality.
The unseen LIGHT, however, is undeniable. It is the very foundation of our perceptions and existence, making it all that is real. Cosmos, time, and space are merely perceptions within this LIGHT, present alongside a sophisticated organic body mechanism.
What we see out there is not what it actually is!
Understanding the nature of perception and the unseen LIGHT can lead to a profound realization, shifting our understanding of reality and our place within it.
